What is your refund policy?
Our refund policy is simple: If you are not 100% satisfied with your product from Janish Woodworks, Inc, you can return it to us within 30 days of your purchase for a full refund - you just pay for the return postage.
How do you handle the shipment of large items that require freight shipping, such as live edge slabs?
We have two options at checkout for items requiring freight shipping: pick up or delivery. Pick up is free and would be at our warehouse in Whittemore, MI. If you prefer to have it shipped to you, click the "freight shipping" box at checkout and proceed with your order. We will reach out to you within one business day of your order to ask a few questions related to the drop-off location. We then use a freight shipping website that searches hundreds of carriers to find the cheapest shipping available - this is based on where you live, how large the item is, whether drop-off is at a residential or commercial building, etc. You will then be billed for the shipping costs after we have received the invoice. If you would like a quote before purchasing the item to get a rough idea of how much shipping will be, simply send us an email and we would be happy to do that for you.
How dry does the wood come out of your kilns?
This depends on the species in question and what we are trying to do with the end product. Most species fall in the 6-8 percent moisture range.
What is a live edge slab?
A live edge slab contains at least one edge that hasn't been cut, leaving it with the natural bevel from the curvature of the log. Live edges look great on bar tops, coffee tables, and other furniture. Live edge products can be bark-on or bark-off.
What is a bookmatched set/pair?
A bookmatched pair refers to two adjacent slabs of a log set. This means the grain patterns are identical on the sides that were facing each other in the log, giving you a "mirror image" look when you put them side by side. When bookmatched pairs are joined together, they make beautiful live edge furniture.
